As has become tradition for Nylacast SA (Pty) Ltd, instead of exchanging corporate gifts, Nylacast has chosen to make a donation on behalf of our customers and business partners to Kids Haven as a token of our appreciation.
Kids Haven is a shelter that serves homeless children and children in crises in the Ekurhuleni region of South Africa. They are focused on protecting and caring for these abandoned children and giving them a future.
Kids Haven has been in existence since 1992 and has 3 pillars:
- * Pre-Care
- * In-Care
- * After-Care
The Pre-Care pillar includes outreach and drop in where the team meets with children living and begging on the streets. Here, they try to establish why kids leave their homes/school and what their lives are like. The two critical outcomes of this activity are the stimulation of young children and the enrolment of these children into formal schools.
The In-Care pillar provides the care and protection that is required under the Children’s Act. Kids Haven provides temporary safe care to any child in order to immediately meet his/her needs.
Lastly, the After-Care pillar provides ongoing contact with children who have been at Kids Haven and has returned home or is living independently.
Nylacast SA (Pty) Ltd is also sponsoring young Tshiamo, who is attending Benoni Junior School, by paying her school fees and has assisted in excess of 20 children from Etwatwa High School and Lesabe Primary School.
