Celebrating World Environment Day in Our Local Community

To mark World Environment Day this month, colleagues from our headquarters in Leicester, took part in a community litter-picking initiative.

The activity provided a meaningful opportunity to demonstrate our ongoing commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility, while helping to improve and maintain cleaner, greener public spaces.

The initiative also served as a reminder of the wider impact litter can have on wildlife, natural habitats, and the wellbeing of local communities. By taking part, colleagues contributed directly to improving the local environment, while helping to raise awareness of the importance of responsible waste disposal and long-term behavioural change.

A total of 21kg of waste was collected during the session, consisting of 8kg of recyclable materials and 13kg of general waste. At the end of the day, participants were invited to estimate the total weight collected. First-year apprentice Lilly Marraffa submitted the closest estimate and was presented with a gift by COO Ben Hambleton in recognition of her participation.

The event brought colleagues together and fostered a strong sense of teamwork and shared achievement across all those involved. It was also particularly rewarding to receive positive feedback from members of the public who were enjoying the local area and wildlife.

We are proud of everyone who took part and remain committed to supporting initiatives that promote environmental sustainability and deliver a positive impact within our communities.
