Nylacast are proud to be joining forces with race car driver Mark Draghicescu for the new season of HSCC historic Formula Ford Championship.
Originally from the US, Mark moved to England when he was 18 to pursue his motorsport dream.
Competing under the banner MD Racing, he will be driving Speedsport’s 1971 Merlyn MK20 this season in the historic FF1600 series for single-seater cars built and raced before 1972, the glory years of Formula Ford.
He attracted the support of Nylacast because automotive is a key sector for the company. Nylacast has two bases in the US as well as a major manufacturing operation in Leicester, UK, and offices in South Africa.

Already an accomplished race car driver with numerous wins and podium finishes, Mark aims to reach the pinnacle of sports car racing. “Racing is my passion” he says, “I started racing go-karts at the age of 13 and the feeling of winning is like no other. It is great to have Nylacast’s backing, and as an engineering graduate, I am very interested in the research and development behind their products in motorsport and beyond. It’s also great that they have a strong connection with my home country.”

This level of experience, combined with the ability to produce rapid prototypes and complex one-off components, has seen Nylacast involved in a number of collaborative projects with blue chip organisations such as JCB, Caterpillar, BP and Shell.
Nylacast exports 70 per cent of its output. It employs more than 400 people, mostly in Leicester.
MD Racing’s 2015 season began at Thruxton in April and he will be racing at Donington at the end of this month.
