Winch Drum Shell

Machine Engineered Polymer Solutions with safety and efficiency in mind.

What is a Winch Drum Shell?

Winch Drum Shells (also known as spooling shells or cable spool liners) are protective sleeves that support rope, or cables when reeling in and out. They are designed, to ensure smooth and controlled reeling as the drum rotates. Winch Drums can be found in various industry and technology such as cranes (construction and marine), drilling, military, recovery and rescue equipment.

At Nylacast, we have developed a high-performance Polymer Winch Drum Shell (Spooling Shell) to improve safety and reliability for handling, loading or unloading in every terrain.

Why Choose Polymer Winch Drum Shells

By installing a polymer spooling shell, we help to optimise winching operations, reducing and eliminating industry challenges such as:

  • Low-Friction Surface:
Lower coefficient of friction can reduce wear on cables and ropes.
  • Weight Reduction:
Ideal for applications where weight is a critical factor.
  • Corrosion Resistant:
Not susceptible to rust or corrosion.
  • Advanced Wear Resistance:
    Operates well in harsh environments.
  • Less Likely to Damage the Rope:
Extending the lifespan of the equipment.
  • Enhances Efficiency
Enhances efficiency and reliability of power transmission.

Spooling Shells are used to increase the performance of lifting operations and proven in industry to also increase safety and significantly enhance efficiency through extending the life of mating ropes when in operation and eliminating the need for regular maintenance or lubrication.

Overcome Industry and User Challenges such as:

  • Durability
  • Component weight/ Overall equipment weight
  • Rope/cable maintenance
  • Equipment performance
  • Ease of installation
  • Friction
