Sales Apprentice

Job Title: Sales Apprentice

Reports to: Sales Manager

Location: The role will be based at our World Headquarters in Leicester, UK.

Brief overview of job role:

The Sales Apprentice supports the Sales Team in all areas of sales and business admin.

Main duties include:

  • Keeping well-organised files, records of business activity and providing office support to the sales department and customer.
  • Interacting with customers either on the phone via email or in person.
  • Understand selling and how to liaise with international customers (with English being the main language used)
  • Understand selling for a manufacturer
  • Understand selling for business to business
  • Following up on business communications, quotation’s, order status.
  • Communicating with internal departments such as planning & estimating, manufacturing, R&D, Engineering.
  • Using spreadsheets to track quote status, cost reviews, order processing.
  • Collecting and inputting company data in CRM & ERP system
  • Learning and understanding about the company and the available products/services, to allow discussion on business opportunities to take place with customer/prospects. Learning and understand how to exceed customer expectations.
  • Building relationships with the customers and suppliers.
  • Preparing documents to submit quotes/order confirmations
  • Understand and undertake administrative tasks for processing of customers’ orders.
  • Carrying out market research.
  • Assisting with minor technical support.
  • Scheduling appointments and events for the external sales team.
  • Participating in office meetings and taking meeting minutes.
  • Managing the phone system, by taking phone calls and transferring them to the right person/department. Taking messages and passing them on.
  • Being ready for any other administrative tasks that are required by the sales team/sales management.

  Qualifications/Experiences:

  • An interest in Business Administration and Sales
  • GCSE Maths & English Grade C or above (or equivalent)
  • Attention to detail and accuracy

Hours of Work:

Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5pm with a daily 60-minute lunch break.

Main Duties:

The successful applicant must:

Brief overview of job role:
Over the last 8 years Nylacast have continued to build on the success of our apprenticeship scheme and as
such we are offering the opportunity for 6 new apprentices to join us during 2018, so we are looking for
people that are interested in Engineering within CNC Milling and CNC Turning.
This is an excellent opportunity, working on a variety of projects whilst learning about CNC machining as
well as gaining a full qualification and having a guaranteed full-time job as a CNC Machinist after 4 years.

Main duties include within the First Year:
• 6 week placements in all the Departments within Nylacast, which will give potential apprentices a good
understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental issues that arise to working right the way through to
Quality, Inspection and Warehouse
• Block Release to college to study for Level 2 & Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeships
• Work as a Team on a project set by the Technical Trainer
Qualifications/Experiences:
• An interest in Engineering
• GCSE Maths & English Grade C or above (or equivalent)
• Attention to detail and accuracy

Hours of Work:
Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 16:30 with a daily 30-minute lunch break for the first year.

Business Development Manager (Marine, Off-shore, Oil & Gas)

As the Business Development Manager you will have responsibility for the Sale of Nylacast Engineered Products into the Marine, Off-shore, Oil & Gas Market, both in the UK and international market. Spending the majority of your time within the customer environment, building long term relationships with key personnel, including buying and engineering influencers. Analysing processes, uncovering needs and presenting ways that Nylacast Engineered Products can add value. You will also have a large role in providing world-class service to your customers before and after the sale by providing engineering guidance and support.

Main duties include:

Overall responsibility for the designated sector, backed with support from an internal and external team dedicated to the sector.
Develop/manage and maintain the sales/business plan for the given sector with focus on:
• New opportunities within sector – customers, applications/products & markets
• Keep abreast of market conditions: including economical/trends, technological advancement, market share of customers/potential customer (worldwide). Taking these factors into consideration for the management and implementation of the sales/business plan
• Keeps up with of competitor affairs

Sales Performance & Management:
Develop long term business relationships with existing and prospective customers
Meet sales targets / performance measures
Continuously and proactively searche for new business within sector
Follow-up customer enquiries and leads in a professional and timely manner
Submit proposals on all NPD for sector
Make outgoing sales calls where and when required (face to face and phone)
Ensure that all existing and new customers are serviced to the highest possible standard
Prepare and make presentations to new and existing customers
Project management
Demonstrate and explain products and services to customer representatives, such as engineers, purchasing and other professionals
Provide new and existing customers with advice and engineering support
Provide technical services to clients relating to use, operation and maintenance of equipment
Document and maintain all customer / client databases / files in an accurate and orderly fashion
Analyse drawings, specifications, proposals and other documentation
Design and draft variations of standard products in order to meet customer needs
Prepare internal papers to define costs, including any perceived capital costs, involving new work / projects

Working relationship and Reporting Structure:
Reporting into Sales Manager and Managing Director
Proactively work with Internal & External Sales Engineer & Engineering Teams to develop applications and new business
Work closely with the internal and external Health & Safety teams to ensure the Health, Safety & Welfare of the team / department are constantly meet

Additional requirement:
Attend trade events where required
Be prepared to travel within the UK and overseas to support the sector and the business

Desired Skills and Qualifications:
Engineering / Manufacturing background is essential
Excellent understanding of the Marine, Off-shore, Oil and Gas sector
Must have an excellent sales background
Excellent Communication skills

Hours of Work:
Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 5:00pm with a daily 60-minute lunch break – Flexibility as business needs dictate

Location:
Home or office based with regular travel to customer sites and travel to the Head Office in Leicester

Job Description
The Mechanical Design & Project Engineer will be a key member of the Engineered Products Division,

• Taking control of projects from initial concept through to design to ensuring fulfillment of customer
• Development of engineering solutions for customers
• Providing engineering design reporting, varying from design calculations to FEA simulation
• Working simultaneously across a variety of different projects
• To produce detailed and accurate 2D & 3D drawings for customers
• Keeping all documents up to date in accordance with the project
• Accurately issue documents to both internal and external customers
• Follow up customer enquiries in a professional and timely manner
• Work closely with the Estimating & Planning function and Manufacturing Operations team
• Domestic and international travel to customer sites and suppliers as and when required

Requirements of the role
• Degree or qualification in a Mechanical Engineering discipline, or equivalent experience
• At least 2 years of working in a Mechanical Engineering based environment
• Experience in the use of 2D drawing packages, preferably AutoCAD
• Experience in the use of 3D modeling packages, preferably Solidworks
• Competency in using Microsoft Projects
• Excellent communication, negotiating and presentation skills
• Excellent PC skills with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint
• Working knowledge of a Quality Management System – ISO or TS

  • Undertake any off-set changes to the programme to ensure the components are produced to the customer drawings/requirements.
  • Complete first off inspection
