The Race Continues for DMU and Nylacast

Nylacast continue to support the DMU Racing Team in their 2014 iMechE Formula Student competition campaign. 2014 marks the second year that Nylacast are supporting the team which will be participating in the international competition for a second year.

2013 saw the DMU Racing team successfully design, build and compete a race car at Silverstone, built from scratch within their Leicester workshop housed in the Engineering faculty of DeMontfort University’s city centre campus. As the first official sponsor for DMU Racing, Nylacast contribute a number of benefits to the team, this includes funds which are vitally used for competition entry, parts and safety equipment. However the main tie up behind the sponsorship is to offer and share engineering advice and knowledge to the young racing team consisting of students from the DMU Engineering faculty. As an engineering polymer manufacturer, Nylacast also provide their unique materials to the team which are proven to increase performance, reliability and efficiency of many parts traditionally made from metals. DMU Racing Project Manager, Rohit Parmar commented, “We are delighted to have continued a strong long lasting relationship with Nylacast. Nylacast was the first company to come on board as a sponsor and have helped to get our team off the ground. Their generous sponsorship has created confidence within the team and has enabled us to work to the best of our ability. Having Nylacast as a sponsor will no doubt ensure our team is a success”.

Formula Student (FS) brings university teams from across the globe to demonstrate their designs and capabilities to produce a complex product that can compete within the challenging reality of motorsport. As Europe‰Ûªs most established educational motorsport competition, the students are challenged to consider all the requirements when engineering a small single-seat racing car; from design, to costing, to presenting. With a strong commitment to continuous development and investing in people, the sponsorship of DMU Racing is one of many local activities and programs Nylacast undertake in order to increase awareness and interest in engineering.

Nylacast Marketing Manager, Junaid Makda commented, “Nylacast are proud to continue our sponsorship of DMU Racing, we look forward to the team achieving another great result this year. The sponsorship works as a great platform to engage with the engineers of tomorrow and be able to offer some of Nylacasts industry experience to a group of young, dedicated and enthusiastic students who spend many hours between their studies on this project.”
