Job role:

The Order Verification Apprentice role will be to assist in the administration tasks within the Estimating and Planning department.

Main duties of the Order Verification Apprentice to include, however not limited to:

    • To support the Estimating and Planning department in the Order Verification process. Cross referencing and checking documents.
    • Data entry and maintenance, and interrogation of in our business software.
    • Communicating with both Internal and External contacts.
    • Learning and using company computer (ERP) systems.
    • General administrative tasks for all Estimating and Planning sub-departments, printing copying etc.
    • Learning and understanding about the company and the available products/services.
    • Giving feedback on office efficiency and suggesting possible improvements.
    • Reacting to any other administrative tasks that are required by the company.
    • Adherence and understanding of Company Health and Safety procedures.

Experience & Requirements: 

  • GCSE Maths & English Grade C or above (or equivalent)
  • Attention to detail and accuracy

Job role:

Over the last few years Nylacast have continued to build on the success of our apprenticeship scheme and as such we are offering the opportunity for 6 new apprentices to join us during 2021, so we are looking for people that are interested in Engineering within CNC Milling and CNC Turning.

This is an excellent opportunity, working on a variety of projects whilst learning about CNC machining as well as gaining a full qualification and having a guaranteed full-time job as a CNC Machinist after 4 years.

Main duties include within the First Year:

  • Departmental Placements within Nylacast, which will give potential apprentices a good understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental issues that arise to working right the way through to Quality, Inspection and Warehouse.
  • Understanding Engineering Drawings and basic manufacturing techniques.
  • Day/Block Release to college to study for Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeships
  • Work as a Team on a project set by the HR & Technical Trainer

 

Main duties after 1st Year include:

  • Continuing Day/Block Release to College
  • Permanent Placement with one of the CNC Departments
  • Learning to Set & Operate the various machines within the department
  • Learning the CNC Programming Language
  • Ensure work is carried out to the highest standard and in the interest of the company.
  • To be flexible and carry out other reasonable requests made by the line manager to support departmental or company objectives

Experience & Requirements: 

  • An interest in Engineering
  • GCSE Maths, English & Science Grade C or above (or equivalent)
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills.

Hours of work: 

Monday to Friday: 8:30am to 16:30 with a daily 30-minute lunch break for the first year. Potentially moving to Alternating Double Day Shift in the second year (6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm)

Job role:
To provide strategic direction into research and development focusing on the latest technologies, processes, materials and techniques, finding innovative ways of developing new & enhanced materials to enable the company’s sustainable growth.

Main duties include, however not limited to:

  1. Plan and co-ordinate Research & Development projects with internal and external resource and ensure that all projects are completed on time and to specification.

  19. Accountable for encouraging and facilitating effective communication throughout the Research & Development department and manage the human and physical resources of the department.
  20. Actively and independently works directly with company peers in the overall management of projects within the Research and Development department.
  21. Leads and develops the Research and Development team to ensure appropriate resource allocation and skills development.
  22. Ensure that housekeeping within wet & dry laboratories conform to relevant standards and that the Health & Safety initiatives i.e. Risk Assessments, Safe Working Procedure REACH and COSHH assessments are correctly implemented and all documents are accurate and reviewed regularly.
  23. Develop, implement, validate and verify all departmental policies and procedures.
  24. Ensure that calibration and serving of all laboratory/testing equipment is conducted according to recommended timescales.
  25. Keep abreast with ISO and ASTM standards to ensure conformity to specifications as laid down by NEPL Group Companies and all customer requirements.
  26. To act professionally in accordance with company policies and procedures as laid down in the Employees Handbook at all times
  27. Develop and maintain effective communication links with fellow colleagues to ensure the above
  28. Undertake other relevant duties as required

Desired Skills & Qualifications: 

  • PhD in Material Science / Engineering
  • Engineering Thermoplastics, Polyurethane materials understanding and polymer processing via Extrusion and Injection Moulding Experience is essential
  • Computer Literate – MS Project, CAD and Office
  • Excellent knowledge of DFMEA, FMEA, APQP, PPAP and Six Sigma – preferably Six Sigma Green or Black Belt
  • Experience of working against ISO 17025, 14001
  • Excellent knowledge of Health and Safety and ideally with a formal qualification IOSH, NEBOSH and knowledge of REACH AND COSSH
  • At least 5 years Management Experience and ideally with a formal Management Qualification
  • Proactive approach to work, adopting a “Can-do” attitude

Reporting directly to the Engineered Products Health and Safety Manager the HS&E Trainee will proactively support the whole of Nylacast Health and Safety Team across all Nylacast Holding Group Companies. The role will be very “hands on” and the ideal candidate must have a passion to grow in the Health & Safety arena.
The successful candidate will be given a formal structured 3-year training plan.

Main duties include, however not limited to:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of H&S improvements.
  • Complete Audits, inspections and monitoring and accurately record data

  • Support and assist with data entry, reporting and analysis of H&S data and information.

Job role:
The Maintenance Engineer will aid the overall effectiveness & efficiency of the division by reducing downtime on machines whilst continuously striving to improve processes to plant & machinery and furthermore to provide a support service to the production and to the Division in relation to maintenance issues to ensure machinery has maximum uptime possible.

Main duties include, however not limited to:

  • Responsible for Reactive / Breakdown Maintenance
  • Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
  • Support in the improvement of processes and machinery
  • Comply with Nylacast Ltd H&S policy and all statutory Safety, Health and Environment requirements and ·ensure that all H&S procedures, engineering best practices are adhered to at all times.
  • Ensure accurate & timely records are entered / recorded of all work carried out, root causes of failures and of spares / consumables used.
  • Ensure engineering downtime is accurately logged, monitor repair times, and find new methods / procedures to reduce these.
  • Provide engineering support to production to ensure efficient performance of all equipment.

Experience & requirements:

  • Must be a time served engineer (Mechanical or Electrical), multiply-skilled is preferred
  • Recognised engineering qualifications (essential)
  • Previous maintenance experience – manufacturing environment preferable (essential)
  • Competent electrical / electronic fault finding and analysis skills (essential)
  • Self-managing – Must be able to work under own supervision or as part of a team

Experience & requirements:

  • Have worked in a similar role for at least 3 years.
  • Have experience of either CNC Milling or Turning, although ideally the successful applicant will be dual biased.
  • Have experience of Engineering Plastics (Cutting & Casting Processes)
  • Familiarity with Engineering drawing conventions and tolerances
  • Have excellent PC & Numeracy skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative

The role:
As a CNC Programmer, you will be a pivotal member of the Manufacturing Team, utilizing your knowledge of 4 & 5 axis CNC Machining skills to optimize programs and machine efficiency

Main duties include:

  • Produce accurate, high-quality components with maximum efficiency
  • Undertake any off-set changes to the programme to ensure the components are produced to the customer drawings/requirements.
  • Complete first off inspection
  • Working from technical drawings
  • Support, develop and mentor other colleagues & departments on technical machining issues

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to program and set CNC Turning and Milling Machines
  • Fanuc & Heidenhain Controls
  • Applicants will need to be proactive, able to work on their own initiative and assist other semi-skilled members of the team to reach their maximum potential
