Offshore Europe 2015
The growing use of engineered plastics in oil and gas applications will see international polymer solutions specialist Nylacast exhibiting at Offshore Europe in Aberdeen this September.
Nylacast, which has bases in the UK, US and South Africa, will showcase its ability to develop these custom engineered materials and its component manufacturing capabilities for offshore, oil and gas sector applications. This will include examples of a range of tailored components that have been developed for use in applications across the industry from subsea tiebacks through to ROV and offshore components.
Junaid Makda, Nylacast Marketing Manager, said: “The advantages that engineering polymers provide to the oil and gas industry have made this a significant and growing market for us. As a market leader in offshore and subsea engineering solutions, our team work with leading oil and gas companies to ensure their success in projects involving polymer based materials and components.
“We are very pleased to be exhibiting at Offshore Europe again, showcasing our unique, value adding solutions as well as meeting with new and current customers in the region and industry.”
Benefits of engineered plastic components that have become increasingly attractive to the sector include less maintenance and lower whole life costs. Polymers also weigh less, suffer from less corrosion and can deliver better performance than steel, aluminium or other metals. Tailored to application and working conditions, their durability and reliability mean they can contribute to greater safety in drilling and other dangerous environments.
Nylacast works closely with many blue chip organisations in the oil and gas sector including BP and Shell, on projects extending from the North Sea to the Gulf of Mexico. With manufacturing and distribution facilities strategically located in the UK, US and South Africa, Nylacast services a worldwide market, exporting to more than 43 countries. In 2014 it was awarded the British Engineering Excellence Award for Materials Application.
Engineered polymers are more durable, reliable and versatile than metals or ceramics, particularly in arduous, salt water environments, with around 25 times the life of phosphor bronze and a seventh the weight of steel. Typical uses include pipe in pipe spacers, with more than 320,000 in active service worldwide, ROV components, sheaves and subsea tiebacks.
Founded in 1967 in the UK, Nylacast has more than four decades of experience in the development of engineered plastics.
The company provides a full engineering consultancy and project management service from concept to delivery, working closely with customers to understand their applications and provide innovative, tailored solutions. The company continually invests in its in-house R&D, creating market-leading resources and expertise to custom formulate materials and components. From minimising weight and ensuring easy installation to reducing maintenance costs, its engineers are experienced in dealing with the key challenges and requirements of the sector.
Its manufacturing facilities are also state-of-the-art, enabling Nylacast to offer customers complex one-off components, or high volume production runs to meet the requirements of the largest manufacturers. All production is carried out to industry-specific high quality standards, including ISO 29001:2011 Oil & Gas, and has unique full traceability from chemistry to component.
Offshore Europe, which takes place 8-11 September at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre, is expecting in excess of 63,000 visitors from more than 100 countries across the world. The exhibition is continuing to grow each year, and it is one of the world’s largest technical conference and exhibitions for the offshore E&P industry.
Nylacast is exhibiting at Offshore Europe at stand 4A160.
