Nylacast have a vacancy for a:

General Manager (Materials)
(Ref No: GM Jan 2012)

Due to reorganization across the Nylacast UK Group, we are currently looking to recruit a General Manager for our Materials Division. The successful applicant will report directly to the Managing.
Job Purpose: To take full responsibility for the Profit & Loss of the Materials division, whilst leading the production teams to ensure the company's product lines are produced efficiently, that they conform to quality standards, quantity and costs (falling within the costing budget); and that they are produced within the specified lead time, to maintain customer satisfaction both internally and externally

The main duties will be to:

  • Take full responsibility for Profit & Loss accounts for the Materials Division
  • Compile a detailed analyses of mass balance of chemicals for the Casting & Cutting Shops
  • Co-ordinate the continuous daily operation of productive capacity adhering to set production targets
  • Ensure the effective and efficient running of all plant & equipment within the division
  • Continuously improve activities and processes to achieve maximum output and minimum waste.
  • Ensure the stocking policy is adhered to for both raw and finished goods
  • Responsible for the procurement of goods and subcontractors
  • Meet the required standards in relation to HSE & Quality

• Effectively manage employment relations including, training & development

The ideal applicant must:

  • Be educated to degree level in either a Business or Engineering Degree
  • Have at least 5 years experience in a General / Operations Managers role
  • Have excellent commercial awareness with a strong focus of managing and controlling costs and budgets
  • Have previous experience of implementing Lean Improvements
  • Good understanding and previous experience of HSE & Quality Accreditations (BSI, ISO etc..)
  • Previous experience of working in a Plastics / Chemical Industry would be advantageous.

The role will be based at our Materials Division at 460 Thurmaston Boulevard, Leicester and the hours of work will be Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:00 with a daily 60-minute lunch break although flexibility within these hours will be required.

Cost Accountant
(Ref No: CA Jan 2012)

The successful applicant will report directly to the Group Financial Controller.

The main duties will be:

The analysis of direct cost of sale (materials and direct labor) identifying variances against a budget, and trace such costs back to underlying activities
To monitor proposed changes in manufacturing methods to determine the effect on costs and hence profit
To produce reports for management analyzing margin performance by product & projects
Reviewing & developing (and create where necessary) the controls in place for data accumulation and reporting in a cost accounting system
The analysis and monitoring of inventory, tracking trends and advising management on cash implications of planned inventory movements
To co-ordinate physical inventories and cycle counts as appropriate
The analysis of overhead costs identifying variances against budget, with regular meetings / reports to senior management detailing and interpreting such variances
Production of financial justification for capital expenditure projects as required
Assisting in the preparation of the annual budget including "what if" analyses as and when required

The ideal applicant must:

Be a self starter and work without supervision
Be details orientated
Be able to work within a team and have excellent verbal and written communication skills
Be proficient with MS Excel, Word, Outlook and other appropriate packages
Be able to prioritize and plan work activities efficiently to meet deadlines
Have at least 5 years of working in a similar role and ideally with a  suitable cost accounting qualification
Have experience of and the capability to look for examples of best practice and demonstrate how they could be deployed in management teams
Keep up to date with developments in cost accounting and have an interest in manufacturing processes and how data is used to improve practice
Have experience of using data to help Operations deliver productivity improvements

The role will be based at our Head Office at 200 Hastings Road, Leicester, LE5 0HL. The hours of work will be Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:00 with a daily 60-minute lunch break although flexibility within these hours will be required.

CNC Milling Programmers (Ref: 0210/3040)NYLACAST is a Leicester based manufacturing company that was founded in 1967 and we pride ourselves on being able to provide the customer with a complete Engineering Plastic Solution. The versatility of components from NYLACAST sees them used in many diverse applications within industries including Construction, Oil & Gas, Pharmaceutical, Food Processing, Rail, Water Treatment and Automotive.

NYLACAST is looking to recruit experienced CNC Programmers to strengthen our team within our Manufacturing Division.

The Role:

  • You will join a team of talented CNC setters and programmers.
  • Being site based at our CNC Milling Dept, 107 St Barnabas Road, Leicester, you will work a Double Day Shift (06:00am - 2:00pm & 2.00pm - 10:00pm) Monday to Friday, rotating weekly.
  • Using your superb CNC programming knowledge, you will work with essentially Heidenhaim equipment.

Candidate Requirements:

  • MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE OF PROGRAMMING IN HEIDENHAIM.
  • Must have worked in a CNC Milling environment for at least two years.
  • Be able to complete small batch/technical work.
  • Have the ability to read technical drawings. Set Machines using existing programs to produce "First Off" components.
  • Experienced 4 & 5 Axis preferred
